VGM 20 Y-displacement device

 

A tool to extend an existing profile and roughness measurement unit to an area measuring device   

This device enables the operator to expand roughness measuring instrument from 2D to 3D data acquisition of the workpiece surface. With continued use of all components of the existing equipment.  All the components of an existing system would be used along with this additional shifting device together with a PC and the necessary control software.
The device can be attached to a commercial drive unit or can be used in conjunction with a miniature drive such as a compact 3D measurement unit. The specific advantage of this device comes from being able to perform 3D measurements at the site of the workpiece.
This is especially beneficial with large workpieces. The device, therefore, lends itself especially for use in a production environment.
There are two ways to use this device: firstly by attaching it to a commercial drive unit, thereby performing the necessary displacement to the side in order to make an area measurement. The displacement step size can be set. Secondly it is available as a complete module, comprising a miniature drive unit, so that both the measurement and the displacement to the side of each measurement line is accomplished.
