Automated Roughness Measuring Station for the in-line surface inspection

This automated surface roughness measurement system lends itself for the quality control of the surface roughness of variators (sheaves and shafts). In order to arrive at a statistically well-founded validation of the measurement data the roughness values are taken at several locations on the workpiece. Since the required cycle time is quite short the measurement is done simultaneously at four locations.
Design of the gauge
The unit consits of a PC and the true measurement station for the workpieces. A moving stage is mounted on a granite table. It carries a part-specific fixture for the workpieces. On both sides of the stage two drive units are located which sit on metal blocks. The (virtual) extension of their axis coincides with the center of the workpiece axis. |

Display bars
A bar display is shown of the measurement values of selected parameters. If the tolerance thresholds are exceeded the colour changes from green to red. Display roughness parameters
The R profiles are displayed together with the calculated roughness parameters.
